EuroKing’s third generation MIS, E3, went live in May at Barking, Havering and Redbridge NHS Trust. This is the Trust’s first maternity information system which has been implemented across Queen’s Hospital and King George Hospital.  Between them, the two hospitals annually deliver 10,000 high and low risk births.

E3’s Connect2 capability means the system will integrate maternity, postnatal/delivery and fetal ultrasound units across the two hospitals as well as external satellite clinics.

Trust will now be able to produce maternity notes in an electronic form, recording the whole pathway from confirmation of pregnancy to discharge to the Health Visitor during post-natal care.  The system produces a record for mother and baby together, and for the baby as a separate individual.

The system will be accessed by more than 200 users across the two sites.

E3 will help the Trust to improve upon its current CNST standing, by achieving better data collection, reporting and audit trails, these were key factors in the Trust choosing E3 as the preferred maternity system.

Accessibility in the community, allowing data to be input in real-time by community midwives and other professionals, such as GPs and health visitors, was also a major requirement, as the Trust intends to roll E3 out into the community in the future.

Barking Havering and Redbridge NHS Trust is one of a growing number of Trusts to choose E3.  Newcastle Hospitals NHS Foundation went live with EuroKing’s complete maternity solution including CTG Trium in April this year. Northumbria NHS Trust has appointed EuroKing as well as Frimley NHS Trust, Medway NHS Trust, Stockport NHS Trust and Worthing NHS Trust.

In August 2007, Heart of England NHS Foundation Trust launched a pioneering project to reduce perinatal mortality in high risk areas of Birmingham using E3 in the Community and this is ongoing.
